Winton Wetlands: Connecting people, wetlands and health

The close link between healthy wetlands and healthy people has been known since times before the British colonisation of Australia. Then, the Yorta Yorta and other Aboriginal nations met regularly to grow, gather and trade foods and other resources on the banks of what is now the Winton Wetlands in North East Victoria.

Participants at the 2019 Winton Wetlands Science Forum heard how people are connecting with nature and health at these wetlands and elsewhere across Australia and New Zealand.

In Part 1 of this podcast, listen to Professor Pierre Horwitz from Edith Cowan University in Western Australia, who set the scene for the forum.

In Part 2, Tanya MacAlpin explains how the revitalised Winton Wetlands are doing their part in encouraging human health.
